The Urban Decadence

So, remember my entry about a new streetwear shop called Collective that I discovered around my neighborhood? Well, I decided to get off my ass and go interview/hang out with the guys behind the chill graffiti-laden store. I had the privilege of hanging out with the guys in their office as they played games on the PS3 and talked about everything from food to games to graffit to photography while Danny filled out the answers to my on-the-spot questions, haha.

When did you guys open?
We openeds exactly a month ago from yesterday (June 23rd).

How did you guys come together to create Collective?
I met Josh, who’s the co-owner, back in high school and we just shared similar activities like skateboarding, graffiti and hip-hop. Basically we wanted to open up a store that many people like ourselves could relate to, and that is how we came about Collective. It’s a place where anybody from skaters to graff writers to hip-hop heads can come and buy their threads, sneakers, or whatever, they need.

And your influences?
Skateboarding and hip-hop! Well, for musical influences, it’s anything from underground hip-hop to reggae to soul music.

Who are you guys individually?
We all skate, we do art, and wake up to, eat, sleep, and breathe HIP-HOP!
